Credit exchange programs with overseas colleges
After registration in Hongik University, a student may study and obtain credits in an overseas college and then such credits may be recognized as the credits of Hongik University. Credit exchange programs are divided into exchange program, visiting program, long-terming training program, and dual-degree program.
Kinds of credit exchange programs
Exchange
- Students are exchanged to overseas colleges colleges (sister colleges) under exchange agreements and the credits obtained in sister colleges are recognized.
- The students pay tuitions in Hongik University.
Visit

Students study in overseas colleges (sister colleges) and the obtained credits are recognized.
- The students pay tuitions in both Hongik University and corresponding colleges (seasonal semesters and regular semesters).
Dual degree (2+2)

A student may study in an overseas sister college under dual-degree agreement and the obtained credits may be recognized on both Hongik University and corresponding sister college.

Qualification for application |
- A college student who has completed/ graduate school student who has completed in Hongik University
- 3 or higher GPA (4 or higher GPA in case of a graduate student)
- Student having a language rating requested by corresponding college

Time of application |
- Application documents should be filed early in every semester (February and early in March / August and early in September) and the time of application may be adjusted depending on programs. Applicants for seasonal semester visiting programs should submit the documents until the end of May or November.

- The students to be dispatched are selected based on integrated results (Final decision of dispatch is made with the approval of admission by corresponding college).

Period of dispatch |
- The exchange program is available for one semester only and the visiting program is available for one semester or year. Long-term training visiting program is available for one semester only.

Method and procedure to recognize credits of exchange students
- Up to 18 credits of the credits obtained in an overseas college may be recognized for a semester.
- If a subject completed in an overseas college is same or similar with a subject of Hongik University, such subject may be recognized in Hongik University and, if there is no similar subject, the credits may only be recognized.
Scholarship
- The students participating in visiting programs may be supported with international exchange scholarship to deduct 60-100% of tuition depending on ratings.
- Participants of exchange programs are not supported with international exchange scholarship.
In case of other credit exchange programs
The students should bear all the expenses concerned.
