Scholarship

Hongik global scholarship is allowed to foreign students based on Korean capability and GPA. Application is not required.

Excellent GPA scholarship

  • Subjects : Students in school (Payment after 2nd semester in first grade)
  • Amount of payment and method of selection : Different payment based on GPA of the students who obtained 12 or more credits in previous semester

  • In case of College of Architecture and College of Fine Arts, above-sown scholarship is allowed to foreign students of each college having within 3% of good GPA in previous semester.
  • The students of good GPA scholarship are selected by Scholarship Team, corresponding department offices notify them and receive foreigner registration certificates and photocopies of passports, etc., and scholarship is paid to personal accounts.
  • If the study starts with Korean course in the first semester and if a student completes all subjects (15 credits), the process as same as described above and KRW 900,000 is paid (excluding the students of College of Architecture or College of Fine Arts).

International Scholarship

  • Qualifications : Freshmen with TOPIK II level 5 and above
  • Method of selection : The Admission Committee select in total 10 students among the incoming students
    • max. 2 students from each countryMarch admissions: 4 students / September admissions: 6 students
  • Benefits :
    • Tuition fee including admission fee
    • (For those who have been selected as final dormitory residents only)Dormitory fee during regular semesters (double room)
    • Prior consideration for work-study scholarship
  • Payment period : 4 years [5 years for Architecture(5-year program)]; from the 2nd semester, students who completed 12 or more course credits in the previous semester and has a GPA of 3.0 or higher are awarded

Korean Language Scholarship

  • Qualifications :All freshmen with TOPIK II level 4 or higher
    • TOPIK II level 5 or higher in case of Architecture majors and Fine Art & Design majors

  • The accommodation fees are based on a shared room of two residents.
  • Regarding students at Sejong Campus : only those who completed 12 or more course credits in the previous semester and has a GPA of 2.5 or higher are awarded.

International Language Institute Scholarship

  • Qualification : Students who obtained Grade 4 or higher grades after completion of Korean education course for two or more semesters in International Language Institute of Hongik University
  • Scholarship: 30% of tuition and accommodation fees
    • the accommodation fees are based on a shared room of two residents for regular semesters
  • Period : One semester after admission

TOPIK Scholarship

  • Qualification : A currently enrolled student who obtains TOPIK II level 4 or higher, but must also be higher than the TOPIK level the student had at time of admission.
    • The student has to submit their TOPIK transcript manually
  • Scholarship: KRW 100,000, and KRW 40,000 for each eventual upgrade
Conditions regarding multiple scholarships

Hongik Global Scholarship cannot be awarded in simultaneously, and the one with most benefits will be awarded if multiple qualifications are met. But, the TOPIK scholarship is an exception and can be received with other Hongik Global Scholarships.

Good GPA scholarship is allowed depending on GPA regardless of Korean and foreign students.

Good GPA scholarship

  • Students who completed 15 or more credits without GPA probation
  • Prior application to department office in designated period at the end of each semester.open_in_new Refer to notification in website
  • When a student expresses his/her intention to apply for school scholarship in the department office, the department inputs details of the student who applied for scholarship in Class.net.
  • The department recommends candidates of scholarship based on the department’s scholarship student screening criteria to Student Support Team.
  • If a student is selected as the subject for one of above-shown five kinds of scholarship, the name and amount of scholarship is stated in the tuition form and the student should pay the amount excluding the scholarship.
  • Hongik Human, Independence, Creation, and Cooperation scholarship requires 15 hours of social service activities
    • Recommendation is possible without social service activities in 4th grade in case of 4-year department and in 5th grade in case of 5-year department
