[Notice]Academic Schedule Adjustment & Guidelines for Voluntary Self Isolation

Dear Spring 2020 inbound students,

 

1. According to the updated University Guidelines for prevention of Novel Coronavirus and to ensure the University’s public health, Hongik University has decided to postpone Spring 2020 Academic Schedule for 2 weeks and announce it as the following academic calendar.

2. Hongik University and the government of Republic of Korea have been putting a great effort to keep all members of Hongik; students, staffs, and faculties, safe and minimize any possible loss of their academic opportunities. The University Administration sincerely request all members of Hongik to cooperate and abide by the following Guidelines to protect the public health.

 

3. In order to prevent the spread of nCoV infection, all students are thus requested for 14 days of voluntary self-isolation as they enter Korea from abroad, and the ones who have completed their voluntary self-isolation may only be allowed to come to school.


Guidelines for Taking Actions to the nCoV





I. Students subject to voluntary Self-Isolation


  1. Students who have entered Korea from abroad, regardless of their nationality, within 2 weeks

  2. Students who have been informed to be quarantined by Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Center (KCDC, 1339).

 



II. Guidelines for voluntary Self-Isolation


  1. Period: 14 days

  2. Procedure: Based on theGuidelines for Students subject to Self- Isolation, please follow the procedures as below.

Begin your voluntary self-isolation for 14 days from the day of arrival or as soon as possible with aids from the Hongik University’s Autonomous Isolation Management Team (HU AIMT).

HU AIMT will contact you every day via mobile phone and/or email to check your daily health condition with the attached Self-Isolation Checklist (Hongik University); recording your body temperature, symptoms (fever above 37.5 Celsius, cough, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, muscle pain, etc), daily travel route, and others.

As you complete your 14 days of Self-Isolation Checklist (Hongik University) with HU AIMT via mobile phone and/or email, visit Hongik Health Care Center (1st floor, Student Union Hall) on the 15th day and fill in the form Self-Isolation Medical Examination Form.

Self-Isolation Checklist (Hongik University) recorded for 14 days, Self-Isolation Medical Examination Form filled in and approved from Hongik Health Care Center, and Certificate of Immigration or a copy of passport printed with the date of your arrival to Korea, should be submitted to HU AIMT.

HU AIMT will review the submitted documents -indicated above and provide you with an approval to come to school.

Students who have completed their 14 days of self-isolation, submitted the required documents,and received an official approval from HU AIMT are only allowed to come to school and attend their class.


 



Ⅲ. Extra information


  1. Call 1339 to act in case of major symptoms of infection; fever above 37.5 Celsius, respiratory symptoms (cough, sputum, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, and others), muscle pain, chest pain, pneumonia, and others.

  2. If you fail to attend your class due to conducting the voluntary self-isolation, your absence will be officially accepted as attendance based on the submitted documents; Self-Isolation Checklist (Hongik University), Self-Isolation Medical Examination Form, and Certificate of Immigration or a copy of passport with the date of your arrival to Korea.

    Guidelines for Students subject to Self-Isolation



Avoid going outside

(for 14 days from the day of your arrival to Korea)

Measure and record your body temperature twice a day

Ventilate your place regularly

○ Wash and/or sterilize your hands frequently

○ Wear a mask everyday

○ Cough by covering your mouth and noise with your sleeve (Wash and/or sterilize your hands after you cough)

Immediately contact KCDC as any of the following symptoms are observed

(1339 ; Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Center)

Fever(above 37.5°C )

Respiratory Symptoms (cough, sore thorat, shortness of breath)

Pneumonia
